[H1125M] Calderara, Lodovico and Attilio Marchetti. Mario Calderara - Aviator and Inventor - The First Italian Pilot, Pupil of Wilbur Wright. LoGisma Editore, 2003. First English Language Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Soft Cover. New copy. A biography of the first Italian pilot, who was a student of Wilbur Wright. The book was written by his son, with the assistance of General Attilio Marchetti. The inventor and constructor of the first Italian water-borne glider, Calderara was a brilliant aviation pioneer from 1909-1913. He was in touch with the famous aviators of that time: Glenn Curtiss, Henry Rougier, Leblanc, Anzani, Henri Farman, Otto Lilienthal, etc. This book covers the period from his first aerial experiments in 1902 through his death in 1944, including his work with Wright and Voisin. It also includes his 1911 essay "Dagli Aeroplani Marini all'Aviazione Navale". (This essay is in Italian only. The remainder of the book is in English.) 303 pages, photos, bibliography. $24.00

Binding is in poor condition with wear to spine of book, front & rear hinges have been tape reinforced, binding cracked in middle of book.
