Aeromarine

[CS5880] Aeromarine technical sheets. Includes Report CA-9: "Performance of DH-4 Equiped with Aeromarine Variable Thickness Wing". Report appears to be complete and is (2) pages of text and (9) graphs. This was a program which increased the performance of the DH-4 for carrying the U. S. Mail. A DH-4 was modified and used an increased performance wing. Also includes a copy of a 3 page letter from the P. O. Dept. to Aeromarine describing performance of "Ship No. 299" while fitted with Aeromarine-2 wings. Payload was increased by 100%. Also, two page "Summary of Results" and single page of performance figures on a mail plane constructed by the Cleveland Depot. Dated 7/10/22. Unique. Good to Very Good condition. $115.00

[CS 5881] 8-3/4" x 11-1/2" 26 page Aeromarine document entitled: "Description and Design Data of Air Mail Night Service Airplane". Dated: January 8, 1924. Provides general description and specifications of this aircraft, designated the AM-1. Pages are done as single sheets on bluprint paper in a binder. Includes 10 pages of text, 2 page Table of Design Characteristics, 2 page Table of Weight Distribution, 6 pages of standardized data of Duralumin parts, fold-out 3-view drawing, 3 fold-outs of fuselage side-views, 1 page of specifications. This aircraft was one of the attempts of Aeromarine to stay in business. Only a test aircraft was built. Extremely rare. $210.00

[CS5882] 8-1/2" x 11" 19 page Aeromarine document entitled: "Proposed Design of the Aeromarine Air Mail Airplane" Dated: June 7, 1924. Provides the specifications and general description of the aircraft designated the BM-1. 17 pages done on single page blueprint paper. Two hand drawn 1/60 scale sketches (side-view & front-view) on graph paper were done by Mr. B. v. Korvin-Kroukouvsky (Aeromarine's Engineer in Charge of Design) who later became EDO's Chief Engineer. No aircraft were built. Extremely rare. $140.00

[CS5883] 21" x 16" Aeromarine blueprint No. 18293 which provides a 3-view of the Aeromarine AM-2 Mailplane. This was the third in a series of four mail planes Aeromarine tried to sell the government. None were successful. Dated: March 25,1924. Also included is a positive reading (blue lines on white) version of the blueprint. Aeromarine went out of business in September 1924. Unique. $85.00

[CS5884] Two (2) 8-1/2" x 11" letters between Mr. Paul G. Zimmermann, Aeromarine "Chief Airplane Engineer", and Mr. Boris v. Korvin-Kroukovsky Aeromarine "Engineer in Charge of Design". Letter from Zimmerman (dated Oct. 31, 1923) is a typewritten file copy done at Aeromarine. Also included is the original hand written letter from Zimmerman on Omaha, Nebraska hotel stationery (which asks for the copy to be made for the files). Letter to Zimmerman looks like a typewritten file copy (unsigned) and is dated May 16, 1924. Zimmerman's letter discusses the problems encountered and found during flight testing of the AM-3 Mailplane along with some suggestions for correction. Korvin's letter discusses speed of the AM-3. $40.00

[CS5893] Six (6) 8-1/2" x 11" pages of Technical information on the Aeromarine MB-3. On blueprint paper, the pages include: "Performance of the MB-3 Equipped with Aeromarine Nos. 2 and 7 Wing Sections", "Performance Curves for MB-3 Equipped with R.A.F. 15 Wings", "Performance Curves for MB-3 Equipped with Aeromarine 2 Wings", "Performance Curves for MB-3 Equipped with Aeromarine 7 Wings", "Comparison of Performance of MB-3" (with R.A.F. 15 & Aeromarine 2 & 7 wings), "Performance of the 'Messenger #1' Airplane Equipped with Variable Thickness Wings of Aeromarine #2/7 Section". All are circa 1922. Also included are six scanned Aeromarine factory photos of the aircraft and its configuration and a photocopy of a 3-view of the 'Messenger #1'. $70.00

Aeromarine-Klemm

[CS5650] 7-1/2" x 9" Single-sided sales sheet issued by Aeromarine Klemm Corp. of Keyport, NJ. Shows the Klemm AKL 60, a two-place low wing aircraft powered by the 60 hp. LeBlond engine. Includes basic performance specifications for both land and seaplane versions. Circa 1930. VG, has been folded. $40.00

[CS5651] 7-1/2" x 9" (designed to fold to 3-3/4" x 9") 8 page sales brochure on the Aeromarine Klemm AKL 25 two-place, low wing, Salmson AD-9 powered aircraft. Provides description of the aircraft as well as a write up on safety of flying. Circa 1930. VG+ condition. $140.00

[CS5791] 7-1/2" x 9" Single-sided sales sheet on the "Aeromarine Klemm" powered with the LeBlond "60" engine. Provides specifications for both the land and seaplane versions. Circa 1925. Has been folded in half, with three small pieces of reinforcing tape to blank back of sheet. VG condition. $55.00

[CS5649] 6" x 9" 20 page sales brochure entitled "The Aeronca". Describes the pleasures and benefits of flying as well as how to organize a flying club. Covers the details of why the new C3 aircraft is inherently safe along with its specifications. Circa 1932. VG+ condition. $155.00

[CS5777] 3-1/2" x 7-1/2" 12 panel pamphlet (opens to 10-3/8" x 15") entitled: "The Aeronca C-2 - For Performance Safety and Unequaled Economy". Describes this Jean Roche design and why it's a perfect student's aircraft with its inherent stability and 35 MPG economy. Reinforcing tape has been glued on in several spots to protect folds from tearing. Circa 1930. VG minus condition. $100.00

Aircraft Mechanics

[CS5606] 8-7/8" x 3-1/2" 8 page booklet on the Aircraft Mechanics Inc. "Flyabout" aircraft. This is the company that took over the Alexander Aircraft factory of Colorado Springs, CO. The Flyabout Models D-1 and D-2 (Continental 37 hp and Szekely 45 hp engines, respectively) are shown. Circa 1936. VG, with price, in pen, on front cover. $110.00

[CS5726] 5-3/8" x 8" (opens to 10-7/8" x 16") 8 panel brochure issued by Alexander Aircraft Co., Colorado Springs, Co. Entitled: "Get Off the Earth", it describes the structural and performance advantages of the Eaglerock "Bullet", built with either the 100 hp. Kinner or 150 hp. Wright engine. Arado

[CS5780] 8-1/4" x 11-3/4" 4 page brochure issued by Arado Flugzeugwerke, Berlin, Germany. Entitled: Arado AR 95 - General Utility Aeroplane with either Floats or Wheels". Describes the characteristics, specifications and performance of this biplane with a crew of three (pilot, observer/radio operator, and gunner). This BMW 132Dc (880 hp.) aircraft was not utilized by the Luftwaffe during WWII, but was only offered for export in either a land or seaplane version. English text. Circa 1937. Rare. Several tape repaired tears with adhesive stains. Fair plus condition. $135.00

[CS5808] 8-1/4" x 11-1/2" (opens to 20-5/8" x 11-1/2") 4 page brochure: "Arado AR 79 fur Reise und Schulung - Zweisitziger Kabinentiefdecker". German text describes this 2-place, 75 hp. Hirth HM 504 powered sport plane. Circa 1938. Brochure has been folded in half and has two holes punched for insertion into binder, affecting text and photos. Good+ condition. $80.00

[CS5815] 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Single-sided sheet on the "Arrow Sport V-8" made by the Arrow Aircraft Corporation, Lincoln, NE. Provides specifications and performance of this low-wing two-place aircraft. A distributor (Safair, Inc. of Mineola, NY) issued this flyer. Circa 1930. Flyer has been folded in quarters. Good+ condition. $40.00

[CS5888] 19" x 17-3/4" sales brochure issued by Arrow Aircraft and Motors Corporation of Havelock, Nebraska. Brochure folds to 9-1/2" x 6-1/8". Describes the "Arrow Sport", a two-place (side-by-side) biplane powered by a 60 hp. LeBlond engine. Inside shows two photos of the aircraft, photo of the prop & engine, and photo of the cockpit arrangement. Circa 1928. Scarce. $100.00

[CS5594] 8-3/8" x 12" 30 page sales/technical brochure from "AVIA" of Prague, Czechoslovakia. (French Text). Describes and pictures in photos and 3 views the: B.H.11 (60 hp Walter powered two-place low wing monoplane); B.H. 21 (300 hp Hispano powered single-place biplane); B.H. 21J (430 hp Jupiter powered single-place biplane); B.H. 22 (180 hp Hispano powered single-place biplane); and the B.H. 26 (430 hp Jupiter powered two-place combat biplane). Avro

[CS5713] 8" x 10" 12 page brochure "AVRO-10". Issued by A. V. Roe & Co., England on this 8-passenger aircraft. Powered by 3 Armstrong-Siddeley Lynx engines this aircraft was the British license-built version of the Fokker F.VII-3M. Circa 1929. VG condition with several staple holes to blank back cover. $110.00

Beechcraft

[CS5504] 5-5/8" x 8-5/8" 6 panel pamphlet "The Beechcraft Model A17-F - Cruising Speed 210 Miles Per Hour". Gives the specifications of this specially built Staggerwing powered by a 690 hp Wright Cyclone engine. Circa 1934. Very rare. $115.00

[CS5659] 3-7/8" x 8-1/2" pamphlet (opens to 7-3/4" x 13") entitled: "Beechcraft - The Business Man's Airplane". Describes the various Staggerwing models available (Cl7L, C17B, and C17R). Gives guaranteed performance characteristics. Circa 1936. VG with very minor closed tear to right edge. $140.00

[CS8514] 8-3/8" x 4" 6 panel brochure entitled "Trail Blazing!". Inner three panels show a map of the world with dotted lines showing the record flights made by Bellanca aircraft. One panel lists Bellanca's accomplishments from 1922 through 1931. Dated January 1932. Two small glue spots on back panel, else VG. $75.00

[CS8515] 8-1/2" x 11" single-sided specification sheet for the Senior Skyrocket Deluxe with P&W 525 hp Wasp engine. This was a five (5) passenger high wing monoplane. Sheet provides details of performance, specifications and 3 photos of the aircraft. Dated 7-25-34. Scarce. Has been folded in thirds to fit envelope. VG. $50.00

[CS8516] 8-3/4" x 11-1/2" 4 page factory issued brochure on the Bellanca Bomber. Although issued by Bellanca this had also been used as the sales write up in the October 1934 issue of Aero Digest. Brochure describes the design, specifications, performance and mission of this twin-engine high-wing bomber in both land and seaplane versions. These brochures were sent out upon request from customers as part of what was termed "Harmless Advertising Packs" by the manufacturers. Circa 1934. Brochure has been folded in half to fit envelope. VG. $50.00

Bernard

[CS5692] 5-1/4" x 8-3/4" 8 panel pamphlet issued by Adolphe Bernard, Paris, France on their twin-engined Type A.B. 1 (bomber), A.B. 3 (mail plane), and A.B. 4 (mail & passenger) aircraft. There is a technical description (French text) of the aircraft, along with specifications and performance. Rubber-stamp and penned numbers on front cover. Circa 1925. Has been folded in half. VG condition. $110.00

Blackburn

[CS5735] 8-1/4" x 10-1/2" (opens to 24-1/8" x 10-1/2") 6 page brochure on the Blackburn "Shark". This is a reprint of an article that appeared in the December 13, 1934 issue of "Flight" magazine. Article was reprinted to hand out to prospective buyers. This single engine biplane was designed as a "General Purpose Coastal Protection Aeroplane". Manufactured by the Blackburn Aeroplane & Motor Co,. Ltd. of Brough, East Yorkshire, England. Provides a technical write up and description of construction. Includes 3-view drawing and drawings of construction details as well as several photos. 2 holes punched in left margin. Good minus condition. $45.00

Bleriot

[CS5503] 5" x 8" 4 page sales pamphlet "Metz-Air-Car - Bleriot Type". The Metz Company, of Waltham, Massachusetts, were manufacturers of motor cars. They were licensed by Bleriot to build and sell their aircraft in kit form. Drawing of this Bleriot type aircraft on the front page. Circa 1910. Has been folded in half, and has light wear to outside edge. $225.00

[CS5792] 8-1/4" x 10-1/2" Single-sided sales sheet on the Bleriot "125" twin-engine twelve (12) passenger transport monoplane. French text. Twin engines set up as push-pull, with twin tail booms. Circa 1929. Sheet has been folded and has two small pieces of reinforcing tape to blank back of sheet. VG condition. $55.00

Boulton Paul

[CS5827] 7-1/4" x 9-1/2" 4 page brochure: "The Boulton-Paul Type P.71A High Speed Passenger Aircraft". Powered by two Bristol 'Pegasus III' engines the aircraft could accommodate up to 13 passengers or be used as a freighter. Three-view drawing, no photos. Circa 1936. A slight tear has been repaired with tape. Has been folded. VG minus condition. $30.00

[CS5664] 9" x 12" Double-sided single-sheet on "The New Lion Monoplane" made by the Brazil Aircraft Corp. of Brazil, Indiana. The aircraft was powered by either a Szekeley 55 hp. or a 50 hp. Aeromarine engine. Sheet shows the aircraft and gives specifications. Pricing is also listed. Folding and chipping to edges, shows use. Good minus condition. A scarce item on a little known company. Circa 1930. $90.00

[CS5759] 8-1/4" x 12" Double-sided sheet with reprint of a "Flight" magazine report on the "Breda 15" cabin monoplane. Reprinted from the May 9, 1929 issue. Includes 4 photos and a 3-view drawing. VG+ condition. $30.00

[CS5502] 6" x 9" 4 page sales pamphlet "The Bristol Aeroplanes". Describes the "Pullman" triplane including dimensions and performance specifications. Photo of the Pullman triplane on cover. Brunner-Winkle

[CS5573] 20-3/8" x 30" Bird 3-view blueprint. Drawn by Dan Howes and undated the drawing shows the 90 hp Kinner powered Bird aircraft. This drawing is typical of those sent out in the early 1930's upon request to young men building models. This print shows this type of use and has red pencil marks on it. Circa 1931. Scarce. Folds and wear. $45.00

Buhl

[CS5597] 5" x 3" Advertising photo card of the Buhl Aircraft Company's Wright J-5 powered "Airster" Model CA3-A. Back of card gives specifications, performance and price of the aircraft. Buhl Aircraft Co. was located in Marysville, Mi. Circa 1932. VG. $30.00

Burgess

[CS5557] 9" x 6" brochure on "The Burgess- Wright Aeroplane". Describes the "Burgess Biplane Model F" aircraft and its construction details. Has photograph of the Model F in flight on the cover. Has pages 1-2, and 7-12 only. Missing rear cover. Circa 1912. Very rare. Poor condition. Has been folded. Burnelli

[CS5654] 8-1/2" x 11" 4 page pamphlet on the Burnelli UB-20 Transport manufactured by the Uppercu-Burnelli Aircraft Corp. of Keyport, NJ. Describes the design features and specifications of this unique 20 passenger aircraft powered by two Wright 1200 hp. engines. Very unique. Circa 1930. VG condition. $165.00

Cantilever

[CS5604] 3-1/2" x 6-1/4" 4 page pamphlet by the Cantilever Aero Company of New York City. Describes the purchase by Kerr Steamship Co. of the infamous Christmas 'Bullet' aircraft. Purpose of the purchase is described as to make mail deliveries to a steamship while at sea. Front cover has color drawing showing aircraft flying over ship, making a mail drop. Circa 1922. VG. $110.00

Caproni

[CS5757] 8-3/4" x 11-1/2" 6 panel pamphlet issued by Officine Caproni, Milan, Italy. Entitled: "The Caproni CA.113 Biplane". Describes this 2-place, 240 hp. Walter powered acrobatic biplane. English text. Circa 1932. Brochure has been folded in half. VG+ condition. $60.00

Caudron

[CS5596] 8-1/8" x 10-1/2" (opens to 24-1/4" x 18-3/4") 12 panel pamphlet by Caudron- Renault on the "Phalene VIII" aircraft. Entitled: "Prototype de l'Aviation de Tourisme: Le "Phalene VIII". This was one of the post-war automobile/airplane conversion aircraft. Describes the unique attributes of the vehicle as well as its specs. Conversion from plane to car took less than 5 minutes. This design was unlike others of this type which carried the wings with the car. In this design the wings/fuselage/tail were left at the airport while the car was used. [CS0526] Set of fourteen (14) sheets of microfilm containing over 700 pages of Igor Sikorsky's personal design notes from October 1926 up to August 1938. Periods covered are:Oct. 1926-Feb. 1927; Feb. 1928-Dec. 1931; Dec. 1929-Sept. 1930; May 1930-Feb. 1932; Dec. 1931-July 1932; April 1932-Nov. 1933; Dec. 1933-Aug. 1938. These were essentially the Flying Boat years. The originals pages were destroyed in Oct. 1977. In the mid-1970s UAC made a big push to get rid of any of what was considered "excess paper". This was the result. A extremely rare set of documents even though in microfilm form. Includes the 14 sheets of microfilm and print-outs of each of the 700+ pages in a 4-3/4" thick binder. [CS0532] 58" x 33" 3-view drawing "Sikorsky Twin-Motored Amphibion S-41". (Drawing No. 3DW 308.) Dated March 11, 1930. Provides specification details of the aircraft. Note that one of the distinctive differences between the S-38 and the S-41 is the cowlings on the S-41's engines. This early drawing does not show the cowlings. VG. $65.00

[CS0533] 4" x 3-1/4" B&W glass slide of an artist's drawing of the S-40. Slide was done by the Affiliated Photographic Co., New York. The slide photo (2-7/8" x 2") has been copied from the Sikorsky press release of the aircraft and although dated 1933 is from a 1931 picture. (See item CS0502, above.) Unusual. $25.00

[CS0534] Sikorsky C-6A (S-38) negatives. A lot of forty-two (42) 7-3/4" x 9-3/4" original Sikorsky factory negatives of the Sikorsky C-6A (military version of the S-38). Image size is approximately 7-1/2" x 9-1/2". These photos were apparently used for a manual on the C-6A. They include several general views and many detail studio shots of sub-assemblies with part numbers. These irreplaceable negatives are on nitrate film, which should be kept away from any flames, sparks, etc. Some negs have a 1930 date visible.
